Product Description

The Linksys Wireless-G PrintServer lets you connect a USB printer directly to your network, eliminating the need to dedicate a PC to print sharing chores. Using a PrintServer frees up your ""print share PC"" so you don't have to leave it on all the time. It also removes the printing bottleneck, and sets your PC free to do more useful work.Connect the PrintServer directly to your network by 10/100 Ethernet cable, or wirelessly over 54Mbps Wireless-G (802.11g). The wireless option lets you put your printer wherever you want to, without having to run cables. Whichever way the PrintServer is attached to your network, both your wireless and wired PCs will have access to it, and the printer it's connected to. And if you don't use wireless for general networking in your office, you can still use the Wireless-G connection in ad-hoc mode to print from visiting Wireless-G and Wireless-B PCs.The USB port is compatible with USB 1.1 printers, as well as printers that support the new high-speed USB 2.0 specification for even faster throughput. Your data is protected by up to 128-bit WEP encryption, or pre-shared-key WPA. A user-friendly Setup Wizard makes installation easy, the compact case fits anywhere, and the three megabyte print buffer size handles even large graphics-intensive print jobs. Let the Linksys Wireless-G PrintServer for USB 2.0 bring efficiency to your printing tasks.

"Worked right out of the box" 2009-11-07
By Kenneth E. Cham (Blowing Rock, NC United States)
This was a refurbished item, but other than having to reset the device to factory setting (to get rid of someone elses password), it worked right out of the box. Before I started, I confirmed that the wife's printer is one of the those that works with this product. The wife is thrilled to be able to use her laptop and printer without having to be connected.

"Nightmare Install and Never Works" 2009-09-24

If you need a paperweight or boat anchor this is the product for you:)

Seriously, there is no documentation on how to install. There is a disk which is designed to support auto-install but does not work. With extensive web-search you can find help from others, the process is arduous plug the printer into your router along with the server and get them to pair ...... long story, this solution does not work either.

 "one way communication" 2009-06-22
By Tom
Had to download the latest driver for it to use the latest secure network settings. Also found out that the communiction is only one way NO bi-directional support which means printer status is unknown, like ink levels etc.

"Doesn't work with all printers" 2009-05-24
By D. S. OBrien (Dallas, TX)
Make sure this will work with your printer. I tried with both my Epson and Lexmark and no go. it will not recognize the printers. I was sometimes successful at seeing the print server when wired but never wireless. I wish I ad been more diligent and read other reviews on the web and should not have presumed this would work with mainstream ink jet printers.

 "Linksys Wireless-G Print Server" 2009-03-08
By Paul Capel III (Ranson, WV)
This is a nice piece of hardware. The setup can be problematic. However, once you are able to configure properly, the hardware works perfectly. This print server has given my network the freedom that it needs to allow each computer on my network the ability to print to our main printer without the printer having to be shared from an always on PC.
