Product Description
Linksys Wireless-G Ethernet Bridge with 5-port Switch - High-speed cable-free bridging between remote workgroups! The Wireless-G Ethernet Bridge with 5-port Switch can be used as a kind of "cable-less cable" for connecting remote areas together. Maybe Shipping is all the way across the warehouse from Receiving. You can connect up to 5 Ethernet-equipped computers directly to the high-speed 10/100 switch ports on the Wireless-G Ethernet Bridge. Put another one (or a Wireless-G Access Point, or our one-port Wireless-G Ethernet Bridge) at the other end, and those 5 computers are connected to your main network -- with no need to string wires. And those 5 switch ports can support devices other than PCs. Since there are no drivers to load, you can make any wired-Ethernet device -- like a printer or network attached storage device -- into a wireless network device. All five ports are auto speed negotiating, and have automatic MDI/MDI-X crossover detection, so you don't have to worry about the cable type. To protect your data and privacy, all wireless transmissions can be secured with up to 128-bit encryption.Similar Products

Rock solid workgroup switch. Need one for each room--can plug in all wired network devices, then link w/o cable to router. And then, control wireless security settings remotely from one place rather than running around to each system or having to turn systems on--makes changing SSID/PSK much faster. Faultless bridging thus far--about 2 yrs experience. ROI for this inexpensive piece is big--solid performance, easier wifi management, & scalability.

I had to to end up reselling them on ebay and lost my money
This is why this product is bad:
a)You can just use one at a time
b)Unreliable, it will just stop working
c)Why pay 100$, when it is smarter and cheaper just to by a speaker cable and run it to your stereo
d)Overcomplicated software and configuration

I have a wireless network comprised primarily of Belkin hardware. So I was concerned about compatibility issues. But multi-port ethernet bridges are not easy to find. So I took a chance with this. Setup is relatively easy if you know fundamentals about wireless networking. I agree with the other reviewers that the documentation is pretty useless. You have to disable encryption on the network prior to setting up the WET54GS5 and the documentation doesn't cover this at all. Once the initial setup is completed, enabling WEP encryption was straightforward. I didn't try WPA encrption so I can't speak to that functionality. I use the WET54GS5 to connect my Slingbox Pro, Tivo 3, and Xbox 360. It's been over 30 days and no issues whatsoever. The unit has been on since I set it up and I haven't touched it since. Range appears to be good as my wireless router is at the other end of the house and there have been no connection issues, unlike some other wireless devices I have. Best of all was the price on Amazon, $90. Anywhere else, this unit sells for between $140-$150. Overall, if you only need WEP encryption, the WET54GS5 should do the trick.

When my WET54G bridge died on me, I thought I'd get this version of the product...
Very disappointing. This version of the product was unreliable, as compared to the bridge-only version. It was unable to keep connections, and seemed slow to initiate connections. I rebooted it frequently in order to get connections...
The WETG54 product never had a problem -- until the day it died. It served me very well.
The moral of the story -- sometimes seperate components are better than combinations. Stick to the components.
The WETG54S5 is not worth the trouble.

This thing is great with WEP but flaps when you enable WPA with a pre-shared secret. I purchased this in the hope of connecting my Tivo to my WLAN since it doesn't support WPA at all! It was an expensive mistake. Everytime I want to update Tivo, I have to power cycle the device. It works for a bit then drops and reconnects. I have used it with a D-Link and with a Checkpoint Safe@Office with the same results. If you use WPA, don't buy it.
